Our Corporate Philanthropy team works with community stakeholders and leaders from across our enterprise to ensure our approach to corporate philanthropy is strategic, relevant, and impactful.

Our philanthropy strategy focuses on supporting the communities where Hershey has a presence, building thoughtful partnerships that support Hershey’s stewardship of shared resources and advance long-term impact priorities, and helping children thrive through education, youth development and well-being initiatives.

Supporting our Communities

We work closely with colleagues in each of Hershey’s locations around the world to ensure Hershey’s partnerships and community investments can make the greatest difference.  While investments may vary based on community needs, our community philanthropy focuses on:

  • Basic Needs: Ensuring our most vulnerable community members are cared for via investments in affordable housing, health care access, and food security.
  • Education & Workforce Development:  Investing in high quality education and workforce programs at all levels, from early childhood to adult learning programs.
  • Thriving Community Cultures: Supporting initiatives that make our communities unique and help create a rich civic and cultural environment for all, from arts & culture programs to civic organizations, public space investments, and recreational and well-being programming.

Partnering for Impact

Our philanthropy enables strategic, intentional collaborations to advance Hershey’s long-term impact priorities. From watershed stewardship in agricultural communities that supply ingredients to funding research and technology aimed at tackling sector-wide challenges, we dedicate a portion of our philanthropic support to power collaborations that advance social and environmental impact and align closely with long-term business objectives.

Helping Children Thrive

Supporting brighter futures for children has been a part of our company culture since Milton Hershey founded the Milton Hershey School in 1909. We continue this legacy by deepening our ongoing partnership with the Milton Hershey School and making strategic investments in youth education, development, and well-being initiatives at local, national, and global levels.  Learn more about our work supporting children and youth.

Showing Up in Our Communities

Inspired by Milton Hershey’s deep commitment to his community, we are proud to support local nonprofits and community celebrations through product donations. This year, The Hershey Company donated product to over 120 different Halloween-themed events and parades across the communities where we operate, helping create even more moments of goodness during one of our favorite seasons.

Our Impact

Fighting Food Insecurity

As a snacking company, Hershey is committed to fighting food insecurity. In addition to supporting national efforts to end child and family hunger, our partnership with Feeding America helped 13,401 households across 10 of our U.S. manufacturing communities access 580,728 pounds of nutritious foods via backpack programs, school pantries, and other local child and family feeding programs.

Our Impact

Caring for Children & Families

Access to high quality, affordable, and reliable childcare is a challenge that families in many communities face. With input from employees and local leaders in our Stuarts Draft plant community, we recently partnered with the Waynesboro Family YMCA to create the Hershey Company Childcare Scholarships program. This program currently provides scholarships to 28 families in the region, providing stability and peace of mind for parents, and opportunities for play-based, educational childcare programming for kids.
