The Hershey Company Names James D. George Vice President, Community Relations

HERSHEY, Pa., Feb. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- The Hershey Company (NYSE: HSY) today named James D. George Vice President, Community Relations. He will be responsible for the company's community involvement, both locally and internationally, and will report to John C. Long, Vice President, Corporate Social Responsibility.

In this new role, George will further strengthen Hershey's unique relationship with the communities where we do business. He will oversee corporate giving, continue to strengthen the company's ties with Milton Hershey School, and lead community outreach and operations for Hershey's Track & Field Games. In addition, George will be responsible for the company's charitable sponsorships, including United Way and efforts on behalf of the Children's Miracle Network. He also will support Hershey's broader corporate social responsibility efforts as they move forward.

Prior to his new position, George was Vice President, Global Packaging, for The Hershey Company. He joined the company in 1984 and has held leadership positions in sales and packaging. He was named Vice President of Packaging in 2004, and assumed global responsibilities in 2006.

George is a graduate of Grove City College with a degree in business administration. He represents The Hershey Company as Coordinator for Project Fellowship, a program designed to build bridges between Milton Hershey School students and houseparents and The Hershey Company employees and their families. He also is a volunteer with Hershey's Track & Field Games. He is an Eagle Scout, active in the Hershey area Boy Scout program and an elder at Derry Presbyterian Church.

George and his family live in Hershey.
