More than a century ago, our founder broke ground for what was to become the world's largest chocolate factory. Mr. Hershey truly was unique. Not only did he transform the business of making chocolate, but he established an enduring model of responsible community stewardship. Today, the Milton Hershey School and the community of Hershey, Pa., stand as testimonials to his vision of a successful business rewarding employees and helping those less fortunate.

We're proud of our legacy and our heritage of giving back to the community. We volunteer actively, give generously and work to make a difference where it's most needed. More than 1,400 disadvantaged boys and girls attending the Milton Hershey School, as well as more than 8,000 graduates of the school, are direct beneficiaries of our business success. We're a leader in working to improve the lives of cocoa farmers and their families in West Africa, Asia and the Americas. Through our partnership with the United Negro College Fund, we're helping minority youth in Central Pennsylvania make a better start in life. Our employees encourage children's literacy by donating books and reading to children in Robinson, Illinois, and Memphis, Tennessee. We also support children's health in many communities, including our work with the children's burn center in Guadalajara, Mexico. Both directly and through the United Way, we support hundreds of community agencies which deliver services and support to those most in need.
